Your Data Matters to the NHS
The NHS needs data about the patients it treats in order to plan and deliver its services, and to ensure that care and treatment provided is safe and effective. NHS Digital collects this data from GP practices. It does not collect information which could identify you, such as your name or address, and your NHS number is replaced with a unique code before the data is shared with NHS Digital.
You can read more about this data collection on NHS Digital’s website. You can also read our privacy notices for research (PDF, 633KB) for more in-depth information about this.
Data Opt Out
You can opt out of your data being collected up until September 2021 by sending us an opt out form. You can also opt out of NHS Digital sharing your data by registering a National Data Opt Out.
